WORKSHOP MATH
How much wood?
Calculate board feet — the volume used to price solid wood.
A board foot is a measure of wood volume: 12 × 12 × 1 inches. Use the board sizes your supplier charges for.
How this estimate works
Thickness × width × length × count ÷ 144, in inches. Use supplier billing dimensions. Buying volume includes your stock allowance and rounds up to 0.01 board foot. Cost uses your entered price and excludes tax, delivery, milling and supplier minimums.
