When it earns a place in your kit

For a drawer or pull-out added to a separately resolved design. Side-mounted and undermounted systems use different attachment and clearance details; one cannot be substituted using the other’s drawer dimensions.

What to check before choosing

  • Measure the usable opening width, depth and height, including obstructions and any face frame. Choose the mounting system and travel needed.
  • Read the exact installation sheet for slide length, side space, tolerances and any drawer notches, holes, clips or brackets.
  • Check the documented load conditions with the drawer’s own weight plus its contents. Confirm mounting orientation and intended drawer width.

A practical setup sequence

  1. Choose the slide model before sizing the drawer box. Record the required left and right clearance and the usable depth from its instructions.

  2. Check the cabinet opening at front and back. For a symmetrical side-mount system, subtract the specified space on both sides from the opening to obtain the outside box width.

  3. Mount the pair using the model’s reference lines, fasteners and adjustment method. Keep the specified spacing consistent along the travel.

  4. Test smooth travel with the supported empty drawer, resolve rubbing or misalignment, then follow the product instructions for use and loading.

A common mistake to avoid

Subtracting a universal half-inch per side can produce the wrong drawer. Clearance and tolerances belong to the exact slide system.
