When it earns a place in your kit
Sawing, drilling, routing and sanding create dust. A tidy-looking room does not prove the air is adequately controlled.
What to check before choosing
- Match the extractor, filter, bag and hose to the material and the tool’s requirements.
- Provide suitable eye and hearing protection; select respiratory protection for the exposure and its fit requirements.
A practical setup sequence
Connect capture at the source and check hose routing before starting. Keep the work supported and the tool path clear.
Check filters and collection containers according to their instructions. Use suitable vacuum cleanup rather than dispersing dust with compressed air.
Handle collected dust as instructed and keep ignition sources away. Review coatings separately before sanding previously finished material.
A common mistake to avoid
A universal hose adapter does not establish adequate airflow, filtration or exposure control.
