When it earns a place in your kit

Use for the furniture connector-pin joints in a case. A shelf-pin row jig has a different purpose and does not automatically locate these matching end holes.

What to check before choosing

  • Verify the exact pin diameter and panel-thickness range.
  • Confirm that the jig can reference both the panel face and mating end at the offsets in your plan.

A practical setup sequence

  1. Mark the same reference face and joint number on both mating pieces. Check the jig’s alignment method before drilling.

  2. Clamp the guide securely, set the required depth for that face, and drill a matched scrap joint.

  3. Change to the end-hole setup when the schedule requires it. Dry-fit the pair and confirm flush faces before drilling the remaining parts.

A common mistake to avoid

A self-centering jig can conflict with a plan that locates holes from one reference face.
