When it earns a place in your kit
For glued panel connections specified by the plan. These are not the removable metal supports that an adjustable shelf rests on.
What to check before choosing
- Buy the exact diameter and length in the machining schedule.
- Use furniture joinery pins suited to the adhesive and joint; confirm fit with actual hardware.
A practical setup sequence
Compare the actual pin with both mating hole depths and the remaining material behind each hole.
Test a complete joint on scrap. It should close at the intended outside dimension without forcing the parts.
Dry-fit the case before applying the specified adhesive and clamping sequence. Keep glue from blocking full seating.
A common mistake to avoid
Replacing a short connector pin with an arbitrary length cut from a rod can make the joint bottom out.
