Especially useful for plywood joints, shelf-pin studs and drill-depth checks. The displayed decimal places do not establish the instrument’s accuracy.
What to check before choosing
- Look for outside jaws, a depth rod and clear inch/mm switching.
- Check the stated accuracy and measuring range, not just the resolution of the display.
A practical setup sequence
Clean the measuring faces and verify the zero with the jaws gently closed, following the instrument instructions.
Keep the jaws square to the part and use light, consistent contact. Repeat at several sound places on the sheet.
Record the unit with the result. Measure the pin’s insertion stud, not its wider shelf-bearing platform.
