When it earns a place in your kit

For designs that call for covered panel edges. Decorative banding is not a substitute for a designed structural lip or shelf reinforcement.

What to check before choosing

  • Check actual panel thickness and choose enough band width for trimming.
  • Confirm adhesive type, species or finish compatibility, and the product’s exposure limits.

A practical setup sequence

  1. Prepare a clean, flat edge and test adhesion on scrap using the specified heat and pressure.

  2. Cut the strip with the product’s recommended end allowance. Apply heat and pressure consistently along the edge.

  3. Allow the bond to set as instructed, then trim with a suitable tool and inspect the face veneer for damage.

A common mistake to avoid

Overheating can damage the adhesive or surface; a lifted edge needs its bond corrected rather than hidden under finish.
